Research to examine students’ motivation and learning activities through constructivism-based STEM learning has been carried out from January to April 2020 at “SMP Purnama Pekanbaru”. The design of one group used a purposive sampling technique, that is class IX which chooses extracurricular biotechnology. Data collection used observation sheets of learning activities and questionnaire sheets about student learning motivation. Data of frequency and percentage is calculated and analyzed descriptively.The results show that learning biotechnology through the constructivism-based STEM approach is effective in increasing motivation and recycling activities of waste into fish pellets.
