The weldability of ASTM B708 R05252 tantalum sheet was analyzed, and the mechanical properties, bending properties and corrosion resistance of tantalum sheet were tested by GTAW butt welding. Test results show that butt joints by this welding procedure perform good mechanical property, and the metallographic microstructures &corrosion resistance of the welding joint are normal. It expresses the great significance of formulating the welding procedures of tantalum pressure vessels.
