Dark matter is an unknown field in astrophysics and cosmology. Various experiments to detect dark matter have already been done around the world since the hypothesis of dark matter was first proposed. In this article, several prevalent dark matter candidate theories have been reviewed, which will make contributions to the understanding of these theories, especially for beginners. The detections and methods, such as Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs), have also been included.
