The article discusses the fundamental issues related to the assessment of the dynamics of the top drive system as one of the sources of vibration when drilling wells. The operational parameters of the drive load at which a resonance phenomenon is observed are determined. The optimal parameters for reducing the amplitudes of forced oscillations, their resonance phenomena are revealed. Methods of protecting the derrick and equipment for protecting unbalanced masses of the top drive from vibration are considered. The prospect of using the layout of the columns, including alloy pipes, is to protect the bit.
