This paper introduces the structure and principle of capacitive voltage transformer, the overheating caused by the failure of the electromagnetic unit on 220kV capacitive voltage transformer in operation is analyzed, it is based on infrared detection technology, combined with the method of power outage diagnostic test for joint fault diagnosis, the diagnostic results are accurate and reliable, some suggestions on field detection and fault diagnosis of capacitive voltage transformer are put forward.
