This paper is a literature review on problem solving and mathematical modelling. The steps of mathematical modelling are compared with the stages of problem solving. As a result, it was concluded that modelling is part of problem solving. Problem solving is the heart of mathematics Alan H. Schoenfeld, Foreword [1]
