Synopsis A new cryogenic linear ion trap beamline has been commissioned for use with the RIKEN Cryogenic Electrostatic (RICE) storage ring. Testing of the beamline at room-temperature and cryogenic conditions was conducted using methylene blue cations MB + and carbon cluster anions C n − . Action spectroscopy measurements of pre-cooled C n − anions injected into RICE will help determine the effectiveness of the so-called Pre-Trap Beamline, as well as provide structural and dynamical information on these cluster anions at cryogenic temperatures.
