Ceramic chambers distributed with metal striplines on the inner surface are installed in the injection section at Hefei Light Source (HLS). Heating on the ceramics chambers has been observed during machine operation. An air compressor is used to cool these chambers due to concerns of overheating during top-up operation mode. To understand the sources of the heating, a series of experiments are performed with various beam currents and bunch filling patterns. The study shows that the heating is mainly caused by the narrow-band impedances of the ceramic chambers and their adjacent vacuum components.
