Critical thinking ability is important for students in learning because it will help when the process of understanding, analyzing and solving problems. The purpose of this study to find out how critical thinking ability of student in solving geometry problems with high, medium, and low learning achievement. The critical thinking ability of this study consists of 5 indicators, namely (1) giving a simple explanation; (2) provide reasons for a decision; (3) conclude; (4) provide further explanation; (5) set the right strategy to solve the problem. Critical thinking ability test is given to 30 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Masaran. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with3 samples using by purposive sampling technique. The results show that students with high learning achievement can conclude and organize good strategies to solve problems. Students with medium learning achievement are completing steps that have not been optimal so that they have not achieved all the indicators of critical thinking. Students who have low learning achievement have difficulty in giving simple explanations in the early stages so they can’t solve problems and not find the right answers.
