Preface Turbine Testing Lab organized an international symposium on “Current Research in Hydropower Technologies, CRHT” on 9 th April, 2019. This event was sponsored by International Center for Hydropower, ICH. The event has been taking place in Kathmandu University since 2010 and since 2018, the publication of the short-listed papers from the event was provisioned for publication in IOP Journal of Physics: Conference Series. Since 2019, the previous name of “Current Research in Hydraulic Turbines” was expanded to “Current Research in Hydropower Technologies” to have a broader overview of the hydropower scenario around the world. In this symposium, the technical session contained 30 presentations from four Universities, which was divided into three parallel sessions. The topics of the presentations were categorized into Numerical and Experimental Techniques in Hydropower, Manufacturing Opportunities and Challenges, Hydraulic Modeling and Hydro-mechanical components, Design Optimizations, Pump technologies and Energy Systems. After a peer-review process, 16 papers have been short-listed for the publication in the Journal.
