This work analyses two Faraday crystals from the company Matesy to elucidate how their differences compromise experimental results for quantitative magnetometry. Our results show that the two crystals have different domain patterns and different hysteresis loops under the influence of a homogeneous magnetic field, which point to the importance of considering carefully the crystal selection and their individual characterization for its successful implementation in a magneto-optic measurement setup.
