Dear Editor Richard Gedye’s excellent article (Learned Publishing 2002:15(3), 217–20) on developing new revenue streams reminds us that the old business models of the print-on-paper world are gradually being replaced by more innovative and diverse models, which recognize the diversity of online content and the opportunities for creating entirely new sources of income to supplement the traditional journal subscription. Some additional opportunities for creating new revenue streams over and above those described by Richard might include sponsorship of themed websites, customized alerting services which go beyond the simple Table of
