Alcohol consumption was found to be highest in 25 to 44 year old Aboriginal adults in 309 screened in Bourke, NSW in 1985. An association was found between stated alcohol intake and both previously diagnosed hypertension and measured blood pressure. A highly significant association was also found with recurrent seizures. These findings underline the importance of prevention and better management of alcohol abuse amongst Aborigines.
