Monitoring is an important component in the planning, development and evaluation of service delivery in the drug and alcohol field. This paper describes a preliminary study of professional activities undertaken by staff in a Queensland regional program. A modified WHO daily log book was used to record activities for a one month period. Some difficulties experienced with this measure are discussed and directions for future monitoring presented.
