A workshop on clinical issues related to cocaine was held in Sydney on September 15–16th. It was sponsored by the Commonwealth Department of Health through the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) and organised by the Australian Medical Society on Alcohol and Drugs (AMSAD). All states and territories were invited to nominate representatives. The 23 people who attended came from a range of professional backgrounds and were involved (or expected to be involved) in the clinical management of cocaine users. One objective of the workshop was to develop recommendations for the Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy (MCDS) to assist it in developing a national approach to cocaine. This report summarises the proceedings and recommendations of the workshop.
