In this paper some of the influences which may put young people at risk in relation to drug use are examined. Adult role models are cited as being important influences in encouraging positive behaviour in young people. The school curriculum, in which information and understanding are presented in context can be used to influence the behaviour and decisions of young people. Effective schooling can only be achieved against a background of effective parenting.
