Practicability of cleaning Thomson scattering windows by a laser blow-off method is demonstrated and discussed in terms of sweep speed and window damage probability. Optimum sweep speeds of ~6 cm^2/s are obtainable with a 30-Hz, 0.4-J/pulse Nd:YAG laser
