Single‐crystalline molybdenum disulphide (MoS 2 ) nanowires are prepared by a hydrothermal method. The single‐crystalline MoS 2 nanowires display substantial ferromagnetism at room temperature. The S vacancies and Mo‐edges are possible mechanisms responsible for the observed ferromagnetism at room temperature.
