Silica‐coated magnetite nanoparticles (Mn‐L 1 ‐NPs), modified by a Mn complex of N, N′‐bis(3‐formyl‐5‐methylsalicylidene)ethylenediimine (L 1 ), have been synthesised and characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis techniques. The catalase‐like activity of Mn‐L 1 ‐NPs was evaluated by its ability to catalytically decompose hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution. The results indicated that the nanoparticles have higher catalase‐like activity.
