Targets are hard to be detected by passive radars unless clutter, namely direct‐path signal and multi‐path signal, is suppressed. The subcarrier‐based spatial adaptive processing is a high‐performance spatial‐domain clutter rejection algorithm. It may have adverse influence on the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. The study analyses the influence theoretically and proposes an improved processing scheme to avoid the influence. Experimental results using real data validate the proposed scheme.
