Hypersonic vehicles (HSV) have attracted much attention in recent years because of its military value. The radar system will face more serious clutter problem due to the increasing altitude and velocity. Thus, clutter characteristics analysis of hypersonic vehicles radar (HSV‐R) is essential to clutter suppression. In this study, clutter model for HSV‐R is proposed and the selection of pulse repetition frequency (PRF) is discussed. Finally, the results of simulation and the analysis of clutter characteristics under different PRFs are given.
