Polygon plates are basic structures of complex targets and exist in a variety of scenes. Therefore, the study of scattering characteristics about polygon plates is critical to auto target recognition (ATR). Here, the scattering centres parameters of polygon plates such as position and intensity are deduced by applying the physical optics. According to difference in dependence of azimuth angles, two types of scattering centres are studied. Due to the similarity between dihedral corners and polygon plates, dihedral corners are investigated additionally. Finally, the theoretical analysis is validated by SAR imaging simulation. This study provides theories foundation for ATR and geometry reconstruction (GR).
