The unified power flow controller (UPFC) is an excellent flexible alternating current transmission device, which has a wide range application in the power system. It can be expected that more UPFC engineering applications will be introduced to the power system in the future, and they will have an unignorable impact on the power grid. It is of great significance to analyse the influence of UPFC on power system energy conservation. First of all, the basic characteristics of UPFC are briefly introduced. Secondly, the influence of voltage quality, reactive power index, and energy saving after UPFC is introduced to the power system is analysed in detail from reactive power compensation and power flow regulation. Finally, comparison simulation of a three‐machine nine‐node system is simulated, the simulation results show that the power system with UPFC introduced can make the power flow distribution more reasonable, reduce the voltage sag, improve the voltage quality, and power transmission capacity, thus reducing the loss of the power system.
