It is widely known that transmit antenna selection (TAS) in space‐time block codes (STBC)‐MISO system mainly depends on the estimation of channel state information (CSI). In the study, to investigate the performances of TAS in STBC‐multi‐input multi‐output (MIMO) system based on CSI, the probability density function of channel gain coefficients is firstly given for STBC‐MIMO. To evaluate the performance of TAS, order statistics theory is employed to describe the statistics characteristics of channel gain coefficients in STBC‐MISO, and the coefficient of channel order statistics is derived. Furthermore, some general conclusions for perfect and imperfect CSI are derived for STBC‐MISO system. Based on the analysis, Chernoff approximated upper bounds of linear modulated signals (MPSK, QAM) for the system are derived. Finally, simulations and discussions are given to validate the analysis in the system.
