In this study, a new forward‐type resonant bidirectional DC–DC converter is presented. Due to resonant technique and without employing any extra circuit element, zero current switching is achieved for all switches. The converter transformer is forward type and so the converter volume is low. This converter has one magnetic element and the transformer leakage inductance is used as the resonant inductor. Due to zero current switching, this structure is also appropriate for insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) elements. The presented practical results confirm the converter performance.
