In this study, the modelling methods are compared in terms of their accuracy and modelling simplicity for different types of components. And the principle of the equivalent circuit model is obtained from reference and is used in the proposed equivalent circuit models of other equipment of HVDC converter stations. Then, all the models are connected into an HVDC system, and simulations are conducted to verify the validity of the proposed model. A comparison with the traditional modelling method shows that the proposed method is more effective for studying entire HVDC converter stations, and is also better suited for equipment building and simulating. Simulation results show that the model is effective and acceptable.
