These days, embedded DC–DC converters are paying a remarkable attention to the research and consumer domain. The concept is basically conceived into the need of miniaturised, lightweight, highly power dense solution. This study surveys the DC–DC converters aiming towards the trend of design of embedded converters. Starting from the conventional inductor‐based converters to the present trend of design of embedded DC–DC converters are discussed here. Here, all the issues which may play important role during the design of above converters are elaborated and possible remedies to mitigate the issues to achieve the better performance are also illustrated. A brief idea towards the possible future research direction on embedded converters is also discussed here.
