This article studies the compressed sensing (CS) technique applied in the THz linear sparse periodic array (SPA) imaging system, proposing the corresponding image reconstruction model. The THz‐SPA imaging system has been tested in electromagnetic (EM) simulation, and then experimentally verified by using a simplified set‐up that only uses one transmitting channel and one receiving channel. The reconstructed images based on both simulation and experimental data have demonstrated the feasibility of CS reconstruction for reducing sampling data but maintaining comparable image quality as the traditional generalised synthetic aperture focusing technique.
