An approach of modal analysis and excitation for wideband slot antennas has been presented, which is based on a concept of impedance matching between the excitation source and the slot modes. Wideband and multiband features of the slot antennas have been achieved by adjusting the frequency ratio between the modes of the slot antennas. A design example has been examined to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
