
Application of SRR to achieve performance improvement and multi‐band characteristics in aperture antennas

This study presents a split‐ring resonator (SRR) loaded tri‐band open‐ended waveguide (OEW) antenna that has higher gain, higher front‐to‐back radiation ratio and lower mutual coupling characteristics compared to a simple OEW antenna.Tri‐band response of the proposed OEW antenna has been achieved by placing three SRRs on the waveguide transverse plane with uniform spacing between them. The reduced mutual coupling makes the antenna suitable for array applications. Lumpled element equivalent circuit of the proposed antenna has also been presented.
