In this study, wideband planar Goubau line (PGL) couplers were simulated, designed, fabricated and measured. The designed PGL edge coupler is simple, compact and with broad bandwidth. Based on the results of these couplers, six‐port circuits and their application to the digital communication wave radio were studied. Simulated and measurement results show that PGL couplers and PGL six ports work well over a wide frequency range (more than one octave) as six‐port demodulators for digital communications systems, including short range (60 GHz) wave radio.
