This study presents an analysis of the basis of a new method presented recently in the image encryption domain. The method might use different schemes of bits projection where the rotation about some axes is the basic part. This work is an analysis of the effect of each angle of a three‐dimensional (3D) rotation on the quality of encryption. Moreover, in order to neglect any type of projection that may influence the quality of the results, the simplest form of projection is used; that is, after the 3D rotation of a point, it is simply projected on the plane ( xy ). Even though no diffusion is applied in the currently presented algorithm, the results are very promising.
