In this study, the comparative evaluation of the asymmetric, Derishzadeh and Vujicic–Calasan power electronic converters for switched reluctance generator (SRG) operation in continuous conduction mode (CCM) is performed. The output SRG drive characteristics and converter complexity are chosen as criteria for comparative evaluation. It is shown that the optimal control of Vujicic–Calasan converters enables obtaining the same power as the optimal control of classic converter in CCM as well as optimal control of Derishzadeh converter. However, the Vujicic–Calasan converters are simpler and can be easily controlled since it does not contain switch components and does not require position sensor information. The additional experimental results, which confirm effectiveness of SRG operation with Vujicic–Calasan converters, are also presented.
