In this Letter, the authors introduce a new class of concatenated codes, throughput enhancing concatenated code 2 (TECC‐2), by extending the TECCs schemes to include a second uncoded implicit stream. It is shown here that TECC‐2 schemes can significantly increase the throughput enhancing capability of TECCs with only a slight increase in complexity. The tradeoff between the low signal to noise ratio performance and throughput expansion of TECC schemes is also studied.
