In this Letter, the authors derive the moment generating function‐based BER expressions for binary phase shift keying and M‐QAM signal for OFDM systems over α – κ – μ fading. This fading model is known as the generalised fading model because it can accurately characterise all the well known small‐scale fading models given in the literature. In order to validate the derived BER expressions, analytical and simulated BER curves for a variety of modulation formats at different values of fading parameters are also shown in the letter.
