In this letter, the authors introduce an adjustable window function that combines the ability of ultra‐spherical window function to control peak side‐lobe level and asymptotic side‐lobe attenuation, with the side‐lobe pattern of the Taylor–Villeneuve window function where side‐lobes near the main‐lobe have constant amplitude, which provides additional advantage over the ultra‐spherical window function of lower main‐lobe width. They proposed frequency and time domain window function designs that are obtained by modifying the properties of the power of Hann window function. In both cases, the asymptotic side‐lobe attenuation is given in closed form as a function of a single parameter.
