A reconfigurable octagonal antenna with a capability to operate in ultra‐wideband (UWB), narrowband (NB) or bi‐bands is presented. By incorporating two resonators, computation between the proposed modes becomes possible using the PIN diode switches. The UWB mode is obtained by deactivated the two resonators, while the one NB mode, is gotten by activated just one resonator. In the case of the activation of the two resonators at the same time, the antenna will be operating in the bi‐bands mode. The prototype has been simulated and measured. Both simulation and measurement have shown the same results and characterize a reconfigurable behavior, necessary for wireless applications.
