Performance of large‐scale MIMO systems is restricted by pilot contamination, coherence block length, hardware impairments and other system parameters. In this Letter, the authors aim to improve the bandwidth efficiency (BE) of massive MIMO systems in multi‐cell scenarios. An improved version of the zero forcing (ZF) algorithm is proposed, based on that new expressions for BE are derived. The authors have compared the proposed algorithm with the conventional ZF algorithm and simulation results show sufficient improvement of performance in terms of BE.
