Optimal solutions for multiple gyros configurations based on fault detection and isolation (FDI) and guidance, navigation and control (GNC) performance are confirmed analytically. To derive the solutions, a modified index for FDI performance of multiple gyros is presented and applied. The result shows that the analytic optimal solution of the configuration improves FDI performance while the optimal GNC performance is satisfied. The same result is also confirmed by experiments using 3D‐printed sensor frames.
