After a short review of the main optimisation methods used in electromagnetic design, the wind‐driven optimisation algorithm is focused on. Its generalisation to the multi‐objective case is proposed as the original contribution. The relevant algorithm is able to approximate the Pareto front of a design problem characterised by two or more objective functions which are in conflict. The optimal synthesis of current in a solenoid, trading off field residual minimisation and power loss minimisation, is considered as the case study.
