Step length estimation has a significant impact on performance of pedestrian dead‐reckoning system. A new algorithm (named as D‐ZUPT) which uses two features (toe‐off and heel‐strike) of walking to estimate length of each step unit is presented. Numerous experiments demonstrate that the D‐ZUPT algorithm can improve the accuracy of step length estimation.
