The performance of printed monopole antennas (PMAs) on uniaxial substrate is studied and the same is theoretically analysed using spectral domain immittance approach. Using immittance approach, field components of unit current source is evaluated first and then directivity is also calculated. The theoretical values of the far‐field radiation pattern and directivity of uniaxial substrate based rectangular PMAs are validated by high frequency structure simulator (HFSS), whereas return loss is calculated using HFSS.
