A new family of faded harmonics modulations, cosine faded harmonics binary offset carrier modulations (FH‐BOC cos ), is designed to account for the spectral overlap among global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals. The generalised mathematical model and power spectral density function of FH‐BOC cos modulation are established. The spectral characteristics and modulation parameters are also analysed. The proposed modulations can suppress specific sidelobes of the spectrum while retaining similar signal performance compared with traditional BOC modulation.
