A narrowband, guided‐mode resonance (GMR)‐based, bandpass filter is designed employing one of the powerful types of memetic algorithms known as the improved shuffled frog leaping algorithm. A high‐quality filter with robust performance with a SOI structure is designed with a transmittance of >99.6% at 10.6 μm wavelength. The proposed optimisation/design method is very powerful and is able to optimise complex structures with desired optical responses.
