A dual‐polarised compact base station antenna with high isolation is presented. High isolation is achieved by using a shorted spiral resonator placed below the metallic radiating patch. From the experimental results, the measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 1.7–1.9 GHz for micro‐cell systems and the isolation is more than 30 dB. The proposed antenna exhibits good radiation patterns and peak gain is 8 dBi.
