We received the sad news that our Editor Dr Sean S. Duffey passed away unexpectedly on 21 May 1997. Dr Duffey has been serving the journal since 1994 with great enthusiasm. Many authors have profited from his positive criticisms, which were always accompanied by detailed suggestions as to how their manuscripts could be improved. Because of his thorough reviews of papers on various topics, Dr Duffey has made an outstanding contribution to the journal. Dr Duffey's views and helpfulness well be missed, not only by his family, friends and colleagues, but also by us and the readership of this journal.
