Knowledge of the significan and representative load spectra is one important requirement for a high‐quality, quick durability life approval of vehicle components on a test rig or by calculation. The way that such load spectra can be derived from measurements is demonstrated in this paper by the example of a passenger car drive line. The paper includes a brief introduction followed by an outline of the objectives. The proposed approach will then be illustrated and the results will be presented. Examples of applications will be shown and an outlook for further activities presented.
