A 57‐year‐old Japanese man was admitted to Ushioda General Hospital because of a positive fecal occult blood test. Colonoscopy revealed a pedunculated polyp in the ascending colon, which was removed by snare polypectomy with electrocautery. The resected polyp was bluish and measured 25 × 20 mm. Histological examination of the polyp revealed a cavernous hemangioma. The hemangioma infiltrated into the muscular layer; however, massive hemorrhage or perforation was not revealed. Although complications of colonoscopic excision of hemangiomas appear to be rare, the number of reports is small and it is, therefore, difficult to determine the safety of colonoscopic treatment.
