This is a report of a natural hybrid between Pseudostellaria davidii and Pseudostellaria palibiniana . Mulitivariate analysis with 19 morphological characters demonstrated that an unidentified taxon was intermediate between P. davidii and P. palibiniana . Somatic chromosome numbers of these three taxa were all identical (2 n = 32). Pollen sterility was only found in the unidentified taxon. Twelve 10‐mer primers produced 18 species‐specific random amplified polymorphic DNA markers, eight for P. davidii and 10 for P. palibiniana , and all of the 18 markers also appeared in the unidentified taxon. Based on these data, this new taxon should be considered as a natural hybrid between P. davidii and P. palibiniana .
