Partially purified RNA‐dependent RNA polymerase activity isolated from Nicotiana benthamiana plants infected with Tobacco necrosis virus strain D (TNV‐D) is capable of template‐dependent synthesis of Satellite tobacco necrosis virus strain C (STNV‐C) RNA. This in vitro system will be of great value in investigations on both TNV‐D and STNV‐C RNA replication.
